From Sandıma to Yalıkavak…

Dear friends,

This presentation has been prepared based on my master’s thesis. In the first part, I will share examples of findings from Sandıma, Dirmil, Geriş, and the Küdür Peninsula. The presentation will continue with examples illustrating daily life, production, burial practices, and religious beliefs in the ancient rural settlements (komai) connected to Halicarnassus, as well as olive oil and wine workshops. It will also shed light on the lesser-known historical background of Yalıkavak—also known as Sandıma.

In the second part, I will present examples, accompanied by visuals, of daily life habits, production practices, lifestyle elements, and traditions that have been carried from Caria to the present day, continuing up to the last quarter of the previous century.

See you soon…
With love,
Emine Küçük Çırak
